Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
The Academy Museum is Arielle's favorite museum on the planet! It's a MUST see for any cinephile— it houses amazing film memorabilia such as Dorothy's original ruby slippers from "The Wizard of Oz." Take your time perusing the exhibitions of the largest motion picture museum in the world, and be sure to check out the room filled with Oscar trophies!

Los Angeles County Museum of Art
The LACMA is a true staple of the area and is the largest art museum in the Western US. It houses a wide variety of art from Andy Warhol sculptures to Pablo Picasso masterpieces. It is located right in the center of the city.

La Brea Tar Pits & Museum
The La Brea Tar Pits are a huge area of natural tar pits that formed over 40,000 years ago. Over the years, hundreds of mammoth, saber-toothed cat, giant sloth, and more fossils have been found at the site. Right next to the tar pits, there is a fascinating museum that houses a world-famous collection of Ice Age fossils.

The Petersen Automotive Museum
If you love cars, look no further than the Peterson Automotive Museum! From race cars, to classics, to cars from movies, they have it all.

The Getty Villa
The Getty is a huge Roman-styled villa that was built by J. Paul Getty in the 70s. It is architecturally beautiful and also houses a large collection of ancient Greek and Roman artifacts.

Griffith Observatory
This world-famous observatory was founded way back in 1935, and was one of the first institutions in the U.S. dedicated to public science. Swing by for a stunning view of the Hollywood sign and entire city. Then, take advantage of their FREE admission to explore the planetarium and giant rooftop microscope.
